Meet The Founder of The Present Method.
Hi, I’m Zach.
My interest in psychology began with one question…”What are you interested in doing with your life?” My mother asked me this question when I was a sophomore in high school. “I think I want to help people”, I responded. She replied, “What about psychology? You’re intuitive”. And so I began my journey. I took an introductory course in psychology as a junior in high school and never looked back. I took as many psychology classes as I could in college.
I studied both psychology and philosophy. As a result, I received training in asking the big questions such as, “What is experience?” and “Why do I experience the things that I do?”. And in the more particular questions relating to psychology including, “Why do my thoughts keep racing?, “Why do I have a hard time sleeping?”, and, “Why can’t I feel better?” These questions and many others have taken time to answer. Sharing the questions and answers that I’ve discovered is the cornerstone to The Present Method and helping individuals create and sustain change over time.
The Pandemic And Beyond…
2020 brought about significant changes in how we live our lives. My life was no exception. I made a meaningful life change and, at the same time, became overwhelmed by the increase in the number of clients I was seeing. I went from a steady 20 clients per week to between 30 and 35. Many clients requiring multiple sessions per week. Between personal changes, an ever increasing client caseload and being trapped in my apartment due to covid-related lockdowns.
I was beginning to have many of the same symptoms my clients were having. This was a moment of truth for me. Would I be able to make use of the knowledge that I had acquired over the last 15 years to help myself? Would I overcome this challenge or let anxiety win? In the end, I found a method that helped me overcome and keep going. This method I created to help myself is the one I’m hoping to share with you.
